FAQ
- What is a good OEE score?
- World-class discrete manufacturing is often cited around 85%. Many plants run 60–75%. Compare to your own baseline and industry, not a single universal number.
- How is availability different from uptime?
- Availability = run time ÷ planned production time. It excludes scheduled breaks if they are not in planned time, and includes unplanned stops. Confirm how your plant defines planned time.
- What does performance capture?
- Performance is actual throughput versus ideal cycle time — small stops and reduced speed. If the line crawls but never faults, OEE can still be poor through performance, not availability.
- Should rework count against quality?
- OEE quality is typically first-pass good parts ÷ total parts started. Rework that later becomes good still hurt first-pass yield — include it unless your site standard says otherwise.
