What is this?

Spatial layout planner — position the camera and inspection zone on the belt plane, verify coverage fits, and read mounting distances. Oblique look-down angles project a perspective trapezoid on the belt, not a rectangle. Not a replacement for lens sizing calculators.

When do engineers use it?

Use after shortlisting a lens — during cell layout and commissioning, before drilling mount holes or fixing bracket positions.

Formula

Coverage and distances are computed from your layout. Lens math (FOV, mm/px) uses the same thin-lens model as Camera FOV Calculator.

Example

800 mm mount height, 250 mm planar offset — drag positions until coverage turns green, then use setup distances for floor marks.

How is this different from Camera FOV Calculator?
FOV Calculator sizes the lens and solves optical specs at a working distance. Placement Planner answers where the camera and inspection zone go in the cell and whether the zone fits inside the footprint.
How do I navigate the 3D view?
Click the view to focus it, then use WASD to pan. Orbit with the mouse. Drag the camera or inspection zone to reposition them on the belt plane.
Does this model lens distortion?
No — it uses the thin-lens FOV model. Verify critical measurements with your lens datasheet or vendor tool.
